Whether it was the fight against Joker or the battle with the cyborg brutes of Mega City One, the alliance between these two street-level heroes never failed to disappoint. The likes of Alan Grant, John Wagner, Carl Critchlow, Glenn Fabry, and Simon Bisley brought unique skills in writing and art to these books in styles that perfectly matched the characters as well as their cities. The team-ups between Batman and Judge Dredd also utilized some of the best industry talents at that time with creators who had worked on both heroes. With a Spawn and Batman reunion set to drop in late 2022, another meeting between Batman and Dredd would be just as well received by fans of both heroes. These stories have showcased the unlikely duo in both Gotham and Mega City One, and have pitted them against villains from both universes and new threats altogether. So far, Batman and Judge Dredd have appeared together in four stories - Judgement on Gotham, Vendetta In Gotham, The Ultimate Riddle, and Die Laughing. The two contrasting methods to fight the same problem set up a great dynamic between the heroes. However, the cross-appeal of both Batman and Judge Dredd is simple - they are both honest men in a corrupt, crime-ridden city. ![]() The world of Mega City One has little in the way of standard due process or sanctity for human life, while Batman himself has always made sure to work tightly and safely within the rule of law. As a lawman of lethal means, he is in many ways Batman's opposite. While the team-up with Spawn gives both heroes a lot to play off from the other, Judge Dredd provides this even better. ![]()
